How to Install IPTV on a Samsung or LG Smart TV

Installing IPTV on a Smart TV is slightly different from the Firestick or Android box process because the app ecosystems on Samsung Tizen and LG webOS are more restricted than Google Play. The available apps are fewer in number and sometimes less feature-rich than their Android equivalents — but setup is straightforward once you know which app to use and how to install it.

Samsung Smart TV (Tizen OS)

Smart IPTV is the most widely used IPTV app on Samsung TVs. It is available directly from the Samsung App Store (search for "SMIPTV" or "Smart IPTV"). Install it, open it, and the app shows your TV's MAC address on the startup screen. Go to the Smart IPTV website on a phone or computer, enter your MAC address, and upload your M3U playlist URL or enter it manually. Return to the TV — the channel list will have loaded.

One important note on Samsung TVs: Smart IPTV requires a one-time licence purchase of approximately €5.49 for permanent use after a 7-day trial period. This is separate from your IPTV subscription cost.

For newer Samsung TVs running Tizen 6.0 or above, IPTV Smarters Pro is also available through the Samsung App Store and supports Xtream Codes API login (username, password and server URL) as an alternative to M3U. This is the easier setup method when you receive your credentials from IPTV UK Pro after activation.

LG Smart TV (webOS)

LG's webOS supports Smart IPTV through the LG Content Store, using the same setup process as Samsung. Search for "Smart IPTV" in the Content Store, install it, note your MAC address and register it on the Smart IPTV website. The same one-time licence fee applies.

GSE Smart IPTV is an alternative available on LG webOS that supports both M3U and Xtream Codes and does not require a separate licence purchase. The interface is slightly more basic than Smart IPTV but functional. It is a good choice if you want to avoid the additional licence cost.

Android TV (built into some Sony, TCL and Philips models)

If your Smart TV runs Android TV (common on Sony Bravia, some TCL and Philips models), you have full access to the Google Play Store. This means Tivimate is available directly — the superior option for most users. Install from Google Play, enter your Xtream Codes credentials, and your channels load with a full EPG. The setup experience is essentially identical to an Android TV box.

When a Smart TV app is not the best solution

Smart TV apps are convenient because they require no additional hardware. Their downsides are that Tivimate is not available on Tizen or webOS, Smart TV software updates can occasionally break app compatibility, and built-in TV processors are sometimes slower than a dedicated streaming device.
